Jessica Hellmann

Jessica Hellmann is Director of the Institute on the Environment and the Russell M. and Elizabeth M. Bennett Chair in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior at the University of Minnesota. As recently as spring 2014, she was a member of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame, where she maintains an adjunct faculty appointment. Hellmann is an expert in the impacts of climate change and methods to promote adaptation to change in natural and human systems. Her biological research explores the limits on natural adaptation to climate change and management strategies to overcome those limits. On climate change adaptation more broadly, Hellmann works with the Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index, a leading effort to assess the need and opportunity for climate change adaptation globally and in US cities.
